guest project

Even with all my complaining about that scarf yesterday, Norma still made me a present for my birthday. This was a special project that we planned out together to celebrate my fortieth. Those of you who know me are checking your math. Yes, I turned 43 this year. The extra 8 months I took on that scarf aren't bothering me so much anymore.
I love having friends who could care less when things show up. We just enjoy knowing someone was willing to make something with their own hands - however long it takes.
Norma knit the bag and then felted it. It's huge!! -Big enough to hold a magazine with my other stuff (great for sitting in a carpool lane). The polka dots are done in tapestry wool in a stitch that escapes me at the moment. It's sort of a spider web woven pattern. I love how they're raised off the surface.

Thank you so much, Norma!

inspired

These pictures showed up in my email a few days after Trish got home from her Halloween visit.
While she was testing my sewing pattern, I was purging fabric and reorganizing the closet to make room for the new stuff. I had no idea it was so contagious.
She even broke out the label maker!

This brings me one step closer to becoming my idol, Peter Walsh.

guest halloween crafter

The kids are counting down the days until Auntie Trish arrives for her annual Halloween visit. According to Ellie, we have two sleeps to go. I don't have the heart to tell her that Trish's flight doesn't arrive until after she's begun the third sleep.
Trish may not be as nuts about Halloween as we are, but she's certainly in the spirit. She sent me some crafty photos just in time to post and buy me another day of costume sewing.
Her mantel tableau:
My realm is fabric - Trish's is paper as evidenced by her cute banner.

I love these mini pumpkins with their sashes.

This pretty much says it all...

I'll post costumes at some point on Friday. More garage sale goodness tomorrow.

whoo made them?

Not me.
The girls recently received some new owl necklaces to go with the tops I made them. They were expertly crocheted by their Aunt Cindy.
She's my little sister. A little sister that turns 40 tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Cindy! You'll always be 12 to me.
ps - Have fun in Las Vegas!

sew, jackie, sew!

Doing a little cheerleading here - Faithful reader, Jackie, sent me these photos of some pants she was inspired to make after I posted the crabby pants in June. It's taken me so long to get them up here that in the meantime she's sewn more pants, tops and baby items than I can count. She's thrifty too!
This pair was made from a thrifted sheet.
This pair is 2.50/yd sale linen. Both used Simplicity 4190.

Excellent work! Keep going Jackie!
